  • Coordinator, Peer Training and Development - Contract
    The Coordinator, Peer and Training position combines coordinating a harm reduction based, Peer Training and Development program for TNG and UHHS supportive housing clients, with case management of graduates as assigned. The Coordinator will ensure Peer program participants have the support they need to successfully complete the program and reach their goals as identified in their individual work plans. The Coordinator is responsible for developing and facilitating, jointly with department staff, Peer training sessions and coordinating all Peer work activities.   • Corner Drop-In Relief
    The Corner Drop-in is a busy, dynamic program that serves ~ 200 participants each day. We provide daytime shelter, nutritious hot food, primary health care services from on-site nurses, doctors and psychiatrists, information and help finding affordable housing, mental health support, voluntary financial trusteeship, substance use counselling, workshops and activities. Relief staff will work as a member of the Drop-In team to provide an enriched drop-in setting for homeless and socially isolated adults. Working alongside staff, volunteers and peer workers, relief staff will ensure a safe and welcoming environment. This position works on an on-call, as-needed basis to replace door and/or floor staff in drop in. Relief staff will help maintain order and safety, participate in crisis intervention, assist drop-in members with accessing services, and make referrals.

  • Follow Up Worker - Stabilization & Connection Centre
    As a member of the Urban Health and Homelessness Services Department, this position provides direct support to individuals discharged from Toronto’s first Stabilization Centre, serving intoxicated vulnerable adults diverted from the community by Emergency Services/paramedics. Working from a harm reduction, trauma-informed perspective, the Follow-Up Worker, Stabilization Site, assists participants in implementing their discharge plans through the provision of aftercare via warm referrals, accompaniment, and other one-on-one short team supports.   • Mobile Shelter Support Program Case Manager
    As a member of the UHHS department, this position provides direct case management supports to adults living in Covid-19 shelter recovery/isolation hotels as well as clients living in different shelter and respites around the GTA. This support will serve clients with a complete range of complex issues, including health, financial, housing, legal and life skills issues. Working from a harm reduction, trauma-informed perspective, case managers provide extensive, direct one-to-one support, on-site visits and telephone contact to assist participants in identifying and achieving self-determined goals. Working closely with the client and external service providers involved, the Case Manager liaises with and coordinates access to services including substance use and mental health supports, landlords, health care providers, legal institutions, income supports, housing providers and other community services.   • Mobile Shelter Support Program Shift Lead - Contract
    As an MSSP Shift Lead, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating day-to-day shift activities and operations. Leveraging your own personal experience with homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use, you will serve as a guiding force, assisting, inspiring, and mentoring both clients and fellow team members on their journeys toward well-being. Utilizing a trauma-informed approach, you will empower individuals to navigate and access services, de-escalate challenging situations, share valuable resources and information, build trust and rapport, facilitate communication with clients, offer social and recreational support, organize and lead client-focused programs as needed, and advocate on behalf of clients when necessary. The MSSP Shift Lead will also accompany clients to appointments. Furthermore, the MSSP Shift Lead will undertake responsibilities such as welcoming and training new team members and collaborating with other teams, including the MSSP Supervisor(s) and the Senior Manager of Mobile Community Health Services. Effective communication between TNG and site operators is crucial to ensure that the needs of our clients are met efficiently. Additionally, you will actively contribute to overdose prevention and response, safety planning, and the enhancement of harm reduction practices through various strategies and advocacy efforts. The ideal candidate for this position will embody the philosophies of our Agency and Peer Program, adhering diligently to all policies, procedures, and requirements. Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Mobile Shelter Support Program you will be an integral part of our team.

  • Mobile Overdose Prevention Worker - Part-Time - Contact (2 Positions)
    The Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub demonstration project is a multi-disciplinary, collaborative initiative between the Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre, and 11 partnered organizations. Through a “hub and spoke” model we will provide culturally safe and trauma informed services to individuals with complex health and social care needs. Services will include primary care and substance use care (continuum of treatment, recovery and harm reduction); mental health care and support services; supportive housing including shelter and transition beds; and social services including peer support, case management, and employment supports.     The Relief Overdose Prevention Worker provides coverage for the Kensington Market Overdose Prevention Site (KMOPS) and the Mobile Overdose Prevention Program within The Neighbourhood Group’s Urban Health & Homelessness Services team. This role supports people who use drugs, many experiencing homelessness or at high risk of overdose, by providing overdose prevention and response, provide information and connection to supplies, crisis intervention, and referrals to health, housing, and income supports.   • Team Lead: SafeSpot 1 (Sheltering Sites, Overdose Prevention Services) - Contract
    SafeSpot (formerly Shelter-Hotel Overdose Prevention Project-SHOPP) offers overdose prevention services for shelter residents who use drugs including witnessing drug use/” spotting”, opioid overdose reversal, creation of overdose prevention safety plans, distribution of harm reduction tools, and training with residents, shelter and security staff as necessary.   • RFP - Peer Pathways: Elevate to Permanent Employment
    This Request for Proposal is issued by The Neighbourhood Group Community Services (TNGCS) and invites prospective candidates to submit a proposal for the opportunity to audit TNGCS’ peer programs and scan those of counterpart organizations to assess their pre-employment capacity. Additionally, they will lead the exploration of the feasibility of an external peer program resource hub. The goal of this project is to understand how peer work can serve as a pathway to permanent employment, enhancing the economic mobility of individuals with lived experiences of poverty, settlement, mental health challenges, and substance use. The successful candidate will produce a report with recommendations on how to ensure peer work is a transferable qualification for permanent employment, including insights on the viability of a resource hub.
